The tropics come to Wilmington

On a cold, dark evening in November a group gathered in the Wilmington village hall in East Sussex, England hoping to take off the chill with some tales of life in the tropics. Organised by ex La Loma guest Sarah Humphreys and Michael Ann (ok, yes, Margaret’s proud dad and huge La Loma fan), the event featured a talk on the evolution of La Loma with a particular focus on the educational programmes we run with the indigenous community of Bahia Honda and our sister organisations Give and Surf and  Education is Power. Baked goods were in abundance (thanks  Sarah), the wine flowed and by the end of the evening everyone felt a little warmer. Over £1000 was raised to support development work in Bahia Honda with the bulk of the funds pledged to provide educational sponsorships for a number of girls in the community
